My first ever contract mobile phone … *daydreaming* . . . ah yes!

October 2007, I will never forget the day I saw my ex with this exact phone and me saying “Aw it’s cute, I also want that” .. SUCKER! Cause two weeks after signing, I already hated the damn phone but it was too late.

As the two year contractual period draws to a close, so too does the functionality that was once, in this Samsung D900i , pesty piece of telephonic device,  that I SO despise. *excuse the anger*

And here I thought that living with a non 3G mobile for the last two years, was bad. Pshh! Look, it was never really a problem having a crappy phone, but back then, I had “hand-me-downs” or whatever but this one, was the first one I actually paid through my teeth for the last two years. Not only rental and phone costs, I had hiccups at first trying to get my monthly limit issues sorted out, then later learned the hard way that LIMIT DOES NOT LIMIT YOUR INTERNET USAGE! and so yah…a bad purchase from day one.

This past weekend, it decided to go wonky; it randomly decided to stop some of the most important buttons from working.

Non-functioning buttons:

So basically, no Menu button, no OK/Enter/Confirm, can’t delete my sms’s but I can read them and can get that irritating notification telling me that my box is full.

The runner up non functioning winners are, The left navigation button and the all important flipping down navigation button; probably the biggest irritation of the all.  Arbly, number four felt like an early retirement too. On the keypad, the number 4 key gone bye bye.

Thankfully I naturally over-thought the initial setup as with anything I have to do i.e. setting up of phone shortcuts procedure; I now still have an advantage.

Luckily I had the my menu and settings options saved as a shortcut on one of the keys.

Irritatingly so, but at least I can:

  • Try to find a contact in my telephone book but if I miss it, I’m screwed, I gotta scroll all the way upwards again
  • I can see my photos taken but can’t send it via bluetooth and have to use the cable
  • use the other OK button which also doubles as the shortcut to web browsing; yes I often see the web browsing screen when I wasn’t intending to go to that screen
  • oh! and I can get calls, I think?
  • log into my phone – I would have been SO pissed off, if my phone lock pin or my sim lock pin, had the number 4 in it.

Okay enough ranting.

I seem to think that I am allowed to get a new phone a few months before the contract expires? Something to do before I sleep.

…and no, this was NOT intentional…

:-P

SAMSUNG SUCKS! My D7 something or other gave up on me after only 6 months of bad functioning. First, it started freezing up and then ALL the buttons stopped working! The phone was pretty much useless by this point in time, but then it started switching itself on and off over and over…
Okay, the end. Breathe. And next time get a Nokia :)
